Welcome To The NEIGHborhood

Hi! I am the owner of Road To BreyerFest and all around hobby educator, maybe? I don't know what to call it! I run a positive based model horse group on FB and on Discord as well as a Google Doc that I created called Surviving BreyerFest 101 with our newest addition added this year- Surviving BreyerFest 102! I love to talk about BreyerFest, the model horse hobby, real horses, and so much more. But I am also a shoulder to lean on, someone who will be in your corner with anything model horse related. Right now, I am a very amateur artist, but one day, I hope that my creations will make it into the world and people will love them as much as I do! I am always hyped about BreyerFest and I hope to always hype others up as well since I want to share about the event as much as I can. Say hi whenever!

Though I had a MLP herd as a little girl that eventually went away and transitioned into Grand Champions/ Breyer at some point I spent a number of non-collecting years still toting my carpet herd from home to home as a Navy Brat moving from state to state. Somewhere around 2010 I discovered the Halloween breyers and started tracking them down 1 by 1. Then in 2012 I needed a distraction from life and realized BF was coming up and had wanted to go since discovering it was a thing some years ago... and the rest is history and I have been actively collecting since then and now attend the occasional show.

Got my first Breyer at age 5 from my Grandma - the good old palomino FAS. I still have him, full of rubs, tail broken and glued back on, ear tips long gone, but he's still here! Was an avid collector until I got a real horse and then had to downsize. Still have hundreds of horses here though - most in boxes - but still here!

Hi All! I’m Teri Chandani (Workhorse Studios). I sculpt my own resin editions and paint in oils, here in sunny Southern California! I’ve been in the hobby since I was a kid in the 80’s, though for many years on the sidelines (life!). I got to watch many of our amazing hobbyists become the well-known artists they are, and that inspires me to this day. I am pretty bonkers about the hobby community, and truly love meeting so many of you in person that I’ve heard so much about and whose work I’ve admired through the years. I've been collecting HSOs since as far back as I can remember. Of course it started with MLP and Barbie. It was the early 80's when I discovered those beautiful yellow boxes with Breyer horses. My first live show was 2003 and I started photo showing in 2013. My collection now numbers in the 800's and contains Breyer, Stone, various china pieces and resins.

Hi! My name is Vasilis (you can also call me Billy). I'm a passionate model horse collector and enthusiast. I’ve been part of the hobby for several years, and in 2024, I decided to take my love for it online by launching my model horse website which was made originally to host blog. Through Billakos Model Horses, I aim to share my collection, offer resources for fellow hobbyists, and create a fun, interactive space for everyone who loves model horses as much as I do. There is also a super fun mini game you can find on my website that I created myself.

I'm an avid horse lover, traveler, reader and artist. I received my first Breyers back in the early 70s - the classic Arabian family. I became a huge collector in the late 90s and 2000s. I am not trying to scale back my herd to make room for my latest collection - microshares of racehorses.

I have been collecting since 1970. In 1985 I learned there were others like me after finding an ad to subscribe to the Hobby Horse News in an equestrian magazine and I was off! I started customizing and photo showing (by snail mail!) and then moved on to 'house shows' regionally, which grew into live shows at bigger venues. I have shown in a dozen states and won hundreds of Champs/Reserves/Overalls, mostly in Performance, including at the BreyerFest Open Show and NAMHSA NANs. I love live shows and seeing fellow hobbyists in person! As a rider, I competed in lower level Eventing (in the 1980s, there were Coffin Combinations and fences with related distances at Pre-Training!) and Dressage, I Field Hunted, and my Thoroughbred and I enjoyed rounding up loose dairy cows in a Stubben Roxanne... I judge frequently (usually Performance!) but enjoy Breed and Workmanship classes as well. I make my own harnesses and Performance props, and I have a growing OF Mini collection - who can say no!

My greatest collecting passion are old European and American chinas. But, I have also proven incompable of resisting beautiful CM's and AR's. And I still have quite a few Breyers, both beat up and newer. I received my first Breyers in the mid/late 1970's and learned about the hobby from information on the classic Arabian family box. I entered a photo show for the first time in 1981, I think. I've been in the hobby continuously since then.

Just a casual collector who enjoys painting and customizing. I work in several mediums but enjoy pastels and oils. Just now getting into chinas - it only took 20 years for me to be trusted not to drop them lol. I volunteer to hold and judge shows around the Seattle area. Happy to help with donations if I have anything done, which occasionally does happen ha! Although the tons of started horses certainly out number the finished things.

Hello friends! I have been collecting Breyers since I was in middle school, around 2006 or so. My very first Breyer was the Springtime Frolic palomino stallion and foal set (Classic scale). I took an 11 year hiatus from the hobby when I went off to college in 2013. The summer of 2024, I decided to take all my models out from storage to sell. I knew it was an expensive hobby, so I might as well say goodbye to it as I focused on other things. But I had to do research to sell my models, and in my research I discovered so many amazing new Breyers I didn't know about! So after I sold my collection, I rebuilt it slowly over the next year. Now here I am with about 25 new Breyers! My favorite molds are Ruffian, the Western Horse, the bison, and Dundee. My favorite model in my collection is Scallywag (I am his original owner and is the only model left over from my childhood collection that I sold). I also dabble in customs. I am not very good, but it is very fun!

I have been participating in this wonderful hobby since 1974, when I discovered the Breyer magazine, Just About Horses. My favorite aspect of the hobby is painting. Even though I've been painting models a long time, I'm not very good at it, but that doesn't stop my enjoyment of it! My first model horses were Hartlands that my mom purchased for me at a small local department store called Jackson's. It was less than a mile from the original Harland Plastics factory! I don't have many hobby friends, but I'm always hoping to find some that would like to get together to chat models, work on projects, and just have fun! I currently live in Waterloo, Wisconsin (not too far from the east side of Madison).

Then I heard about Breyer horses, and since then I've added many to my collection. I moved to the Netherlands in June 2025, so I had to sell the majority of my collection. Those that remain are proudly back out being displayed, and I'm looking forward to taking part in the hobby full time in 2026, including taking part in this years virtual breyerfest. I also enjoy customising, drawing, and watching videos about other peoples collections. My favourite Breyer is the racking ASB/Hamilton, as I love how dynamic the model is!

Jo is my middle name which I go by. My first name is Lari, pronounced Larry. My mom named after my dad whose name was Laurence Joseph. Loved model horses my entire life and have photos with me and my carpet herd going back to when I was just a few years old. I was born in 1958, so that’s more than a little while ago. My interest in model horses faded as I entered my teens. In 1987 a friend moved back home from Ohio and had her models displayed. It refired my interest in model horses and the obsession continues to this day. These days I mainly collect and follow Stone Horses. I’ve enjoyed showing over the years but had to take a 3 year hiatus due to health issues. I’ve just started showing again this year. I have met and made so many great friends in this hobby. I feel like I have finally found “my people,” folks who love the hobby and models as much as I do.

Hi there! I’ve been part of the model horse hobby for over 30 years, starting out as a collector and quickly falling in love with all the creative possibilities this world offers. Once I discovered that people were customizing their Breyers, I decided to give it a try—and I was hooked! What began with customization soon evolved into sculpting my original pieces, including medallions and full-scale sculptures. These days, I release limited edition original works while still enjoying the process of customizing and painting resins and plastics. I collect resins, mostly unpainted. When I can find time, I enjoy painting them for my collection. I’m based just outside of Chicago, IL, and I love to attend live shows in the area when my schedule allows. Outside of art, I stay busy with my two teenage daughters, our two cats, and by volunteering at a local animal shelter. When I’m not working, there’s nothing I love more than spending time in the studio, creating!

Been collecting for 50 years, with brief hiatuses in 1993 to 1997 and 2012 to 2017. Most of my 3000+ Breyer collection was stolen in 1993, by an ex friend (who also tried to kill me by hitting me with a truck). Got back into model collecting once the seizures stopped in 1997. Currently collect Breyers (mostly stable mates with a few other scales of specific molds), Peter Stone Chips ponies, artist resins (cast and 3D printed) in stalemate to venti scale, Hartland Barn mate scale and some rare, out of print stable are scale models. Love drastic customs!

My lifelong passion for horses and my creative talents lead me into the world of model horses. Although circumstances didn't allow me to have a horse of my own, I found the 4-H Horseless Horse Project. As I grew older, my dedication to the equestrian world led me to become a club leader and eventually establish a club exclusively for horseless members. My passion for model horses and my desire to educate and inspire others led me to play a pivotal role in the launch of the Model Horse project in New Jersey. My contributions to the New Jersey State 4-H model horse show were invaluable, helping establish an event that celebrated the creativity and dedication of young equestrians. For many years I hosted the open Model Horsefest shows. I am now “retired” as a 4-H leader after more than 30 years. I am now focused on writing instructions for making tack and more. I sell digital downloads on Etsy.
